Richard A. Halstead of Lancaster, PA died at home on Sunday, November 24

th

at the age of 81.  Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Harold L. and Nancy (Oberg) Halstead.  He was preceded in death by a brother, David Halstead.

Dick was the husband of Norma (Diffenbaugh) Halstead with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.  In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by his son, Stephen L., husband of Heather Halstead of Lancaster,  his daughter, Amy L. Halstead of Chicago, IL, and two granddaughters, Brianna and Addison.

Dick graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, and retired as a Mechanical Engineer from Case New Holland.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder.  He also was a District Commissioner for the Pennsylvania Dutch Council, Boy Scouts of America, a former Toastmaster, past president and treasurer of the Cotillion Club of Lancaster, and an avid sports fan and bridge player.

His family would like to thank Hospice and Community Care, friends and family for all of the support they received during his illness.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service at First Presbyterian Church, 140 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 on Saturday, December 7

th

at 3:00 p.m.  Friends may call at the church from 2:00-3:00 p.m.  Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
