Richard F. Kuhnert, 69, of Lancaster, died Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Mennonite Home.
He was the husband of the late Sally Prosser Kuhnert who died in 2008. Born January 30, 1941 in Oberlin, PA he was the son of the late Herman J. and Henlen Dengler Kuhnert.
Mr. Kuhnert retired from the Elizabethtown Area School District where he had been a science teacher for 36 years. He received his bachelor’s degree from Shippensburg University and his master’s from Millersville University. He enjoyed hiking the Appalachian Trail, attending minor league baseball games and Penn State sports.
Richard was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, and had volunteered to fold the bulletins every Thursday for the last several years.
Surviving is a brother, H. John husband of Brenda Kuhnert of Amberson; two nieces, Cheryl Kuhnert Smith of Harrisburg, and Sue Kuhnert Beggs of Vienna, VA; three nephews, Robert Kuhnert, Jr. and Brian Kuhnert both of Harrisburg, and Jeffrey Kuhnert of Oberlin. He was preceded in death by a brother Robert F. Kuhnert.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 2, at 11:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 140 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Dr. Donald W. Hackett officiating. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment in the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 140 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602.
