Robert “Bob” Ellis Davis

Robert “Bob” Ellis Davis, 81, died at The Glen at Willow Valley, Lancaster, PA on Saturday, November 12, 2011. Bob was born to Emery H. and Edith Ellis Davis in Norwich, CT on January 13, 1930. He graduated from UConn in 1951 and was employed by DuPont for 34 years.

He was an active layman at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Wilmington, DE. As a longtime member of the Delaware Mayflower Society, he was honored to serve as Governor General of the General Society from 2002-2005. He was a former member of the SAR and served on the Eagle Scout Board of Review for BSA Troop 528 in Wilmington. He enjoyed 70 summers in Locke Mills, ME at the family cottage. The Davises moved to Willow Valley in January 2004 and joined First United Methodist Church in Lancaster, PA. He was an avid golfer and WV League bowler.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jeanne Clark Davis; his three children, Carol D. Parker (William), Ellen D. Jackson (K. Terry, Jr.) and Clark R. Davis (Jean); four grandchildren, Lindsey and Chris Parker, K. T. Jackson III, and Julia Davis; and one sister, Ruth Davis Blakney.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service in the Orr Auditorium of Willow Valley Manor, 211 Willow Valley Square, Lancaster, PA on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. The family will greet friends immediately following the memorial service. Inurnment will be at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2313 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE on Sunday, December 4 at 12:30 in the Sanctuary.
