Robert C. Mcgaw
Robert C. “Barney/Bob” McGaw, 91, Loving Husband, Dad, Pop-Pop, Great Pop-Pop, Brother, Uncle, and Friend went home to Heaven, lovingly greeted by his late wife “Peg” McGaw, on April 26, 2014. He was born and raised in Marticville and was a lifelong resident of Lancaster County.
Robert was the son of the late James and Minnie (Beach) McGaw. He was preceded in death by his wife, E. Margaret “Peg” (Yoder). They were married for 59 years.
He is also survived by a son Robert, husband of Linda Johnson McGaw of Jupiter FL; a daughter Patrice, wife of Barry Leed of Millersville; a grandson Gregory, husband of Michelle Moore Leed of Lancaster; granddaughters Karen, wife of Scott Hartz of Mount Joy and Taylor, wife of Adam Fountain of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; great grandchildren Owen Leed and Piper and Bowman Fountain. Bob was preceded in death by sisters Gene, Beryl, Mary, Thelma and Marie, and brothers Richard, Ray, Ben, Al and James.
Robert was a member of the Armed Forces. He served in WWII as a Field Wire Chief and was decorated with the WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Medal. The majority of his career was spent working in the printing industry. He retired from Intellingencer Printing after 25 years.
Robert was a long time volunteer for Meals on Wheels of Millersville; served on the Park and Recreation Board of Manor Township; he was active in the Manor Ridge Athletic Association. He umpired softball and baseball for 35 years.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Funeral at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 222 N. George St., Millersville, PA on Friday May 2, 2014 at 10:00 am. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 am until time of service. Interment to follow at Marticville United Methodist Cemetery, 641 Marticville Rd., Pequea, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Bob to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Pennsylvania, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
