Robert C. Zahm, 78, of Lancaster, died Monday, May 14, 2012 at Hospice of Lancaster County.
He was married 58 years to Doris J. Alexander Zahm. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late James W. and Helen C. Hable Hollinger.
Robert retired from Herr & Sacco in 1999 where he had been employed as a maintenance electrician for 25 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Robert was a former leader in Boy Scouts Troop 25 and had been a member of the former Lancaster Bureau of Police Auxiliary. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, jigsaw puzzles and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving besides his wife are four sons, James R. husband of Marvel Brubaker Zahm of Strasburg, Charles A. husband of Patricia Rogers Zahm of Mount Joy, Dennis E. husband of Amy Louise Rogers Zahm of West Hempfield, and David L. husband of Sherry Landis Zahm of Lancaster. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 4:00 P.M. at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Charles A. Deutsch officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment in the Millersville Mennonite Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard and the Vet 21 Salute Honor Guard.
