Robert “Bob” Craig Hinkle, 78 of Lancaster passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Homestead Village on June 1, 2023. Born in Hazleton PA on August 27, 1944, he was the son of the late Marian M. and Robert S. Hinkle.
Bob received a B.S. Ed. and M. Ed. from Millersville State College and also attended Temple University. He retired from Hempfield High School after 30 years where he taught graphic arts/photography and created the darkroom photography program. He also served as supervisor of Technology Education department.
Bob loved spending time with his family, vacationing in Ocean City, NJ, attending family activities and events, as well as playing cribbage with school friends. A very talented woodcarver, he spent many hours perfecting his skill in creating Santa Claus figures and other creations for his family. Bob traveled to 6 continents and over 40 countries, taking many photographs along the way. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, and a Mason, member of Ashara-Casiphia Lodge No. 551. Bob was also a past member of the Red Rose Coin Club, the Technical Investors Stock Club, and the Lancaster County Woodcarvers. He served as a volunteer for the Heritage Center Print Shop in Lancaster.
Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Cheryl (Kendig) Hinkle, daughters, Lynn Crumbling, wife of Jason, of Columbia PA and Abbie Cornblatt, wife of Paul, of Reisterstown MD. He is survived by four granddaughters, Emily and Molly Crumbling, Julia and Lauren Cornblatt, sister Deborah Beozzo, wife of Sy, of Pittsburgh, PA, and a niece, Michelle Beozzo Anderson, wife of Sean, of Lakewood CO.
The family would like to recognize the excellent care provided by Homestead Village staff for over 4 1/2 years and thank them for their commitment to his care.
Family will greet friends and relatives at Church of the Apostles UCC, 1850 Marietta Ave, Lancaster PA on June 25, 2023 at 1 PM followed by a Celebration of Life at 2 PM. Interment will be private at a future date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to the Homestead Village Apostles Center for Care Wish List, 1800 Village Circle, Lancaster PA 17603.
