Robert Carstin DeLaney (“Bob”) 93 years old of Lancaster, PA, passed away on the 15th day of April 2023 at home. He was the loving husband of Adrienne (Littlewood). Bob was born in Mineola, New York to Edith and Thomas DeLaney. He graduated from Middlebury College in 1951 before enlisting in the US Navy during the Korean conflict. After being Honorably Discharged with the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade, he entered the Harvard Business School. Upon graduation from Harvard, Bob began his career on Wall Street in the investment field, working for the First Boston Corporation which transferred him to the Philadelphia area. There, he continued his career at Goldman Sachs, Girard Bank, INA Corporation, and Parkway Management Corporation.
Bob was an involved and active member of the Paoli Presbyterian Church, an activity which continued throughout his life. Outside of business, Bob enjoyed working outdoors, riding his tractor and even building a small barn on their property. Once retired, Bob and Adrienne moved to the Middlebury, Vermont area returning to their college roots; thus, embracing a slower but active pace of life. His passion for the Red Sox and Middlebury College sports remained his lifetime interest. He loved driving his John Deere snowblower in the winter and his Deere tractor in the summer months.
Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Adrienne, son John, pre-deceased son Bill, grandchildren Daniel, Kevin, and Leigh, and brother John K. DeLaney. Contributions can be made in his memory to the Vermont Food Bank, 33 Parker Road, Barre, Vermont 05641.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 2 PM, with visitation at 1 PM at the Church of the Apostles UCC in Lancaster, PA.
