Robert F. Bell, 74, of Lancaster, PA went to be with the Lord on August 26, 2012. Born in Trenton, NJ, he was the son of the late Marvin and Edna Bell. He was the loving and faithful husband of Jean Susanne Bell.
A graduate of Trenton State College, NJ, he received his Master’s in Education Administration from the University of Vermont and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Education Administration from Castleton State College, VT. He also served in the United States Air Force in Europe in the early 1960s.
He spent 20 years as principal of Rutland Town Elementary School, in Rutland, VT and raised his family in the Green Mountains. Much time was spent at hockey rinks, on ski slopes and at campgrounds throughout New England. Later, he became Superintendent of the Epping, Chester and Fremont School District in southern New Hampshire. He completed his professional career as Director of the Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts Program.
A history buff, lifelong baseball fan and avid beach-walker, one of Bob’s greatest pleasures was spending time with his loving family. He also loved to study God’s Word and served as an Elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lancaster.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four sons, Thomas, husband of Jennifer Bell and their children Hannah and Caroline of Arlington, VA; Matthew, husband of Kristin Bell and their children Luke and James of Signal Mountain, TN; Daniel Bell of Lancaster, PA; and Gregory, husband of Amy Bell and their children, Samuel and Ethan of Yorktown, VA; and a brother, Jack, husband of Cathy Bell of Hamilton, NJ.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a worship service at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2151 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601 on Saturday, September 1st at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Dr. Michael A. Rogers officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
