Robert M. McCullough, 81, a resident of the Willow Valley Retirement Communities, Lancaster, PA died Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Willow Valley.
He was married 59 years to Cathryn V. Whiteside McCullough. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late William T. and Anna C. McCullough.
Mr. McCullough retired from DuPont where he had been employed as a design engineer. He was a graduate of Drexel University and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Willow Street and had formerly been a long time member of the Grove United Methodist Church in West Chester. Robert enjoyed music and had sang in the church choir for over 30 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Philadelphia and was a member of the Chester County Chord Busters.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Barbara wife of Raymond Steck of West Chester, and Janet wife of Howard Young of Coatesville; two sons, Dan husband of Susan McCullough of Downingtown, and Robert husband of Mary McCullough of Christiana; 14 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a sister Nancy wife of Mark O’Donnell of Lansdowne. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the C. Jack Orr Auditorium at Willow Valley Manor, 211 Willow Valley Square, Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Steven R. Bowser and the Rev. Charles Cummings officiating. Military Honors accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard Friends may greet the family following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. McCullough’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
