Robert James Ober

Robert James Ober, 85, of Columbia, passed away on February 8, 2024 at his home. Surrounded by family. He was the loving husband of Marlene E. (Wanner) Ober to whom he was married to for 64 years. Born in Mastersonville, PA he was the son of the late Russell and Eliza Jane (Flory) Ober. 

Robert spent most of his professional career as a laborer in the farming industry. In his spare time, he enjoyed attending farm sales, steam shows and farm shows, rehabbing and restoring tractors and watching old western movies.

In addition to his wife Marlene, he is survived by his brother Ken (Mary); children; Dixie Vardaro (wife of David), Rita Hall, Bryan Ober and Pernell Ober (husband of Patty); four grandchildren, Yvette, Kyle, Daniel and Josh; and are thirteen great-grandchildren. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Presided by his brother Richie.  

Lastly, we would like to thank all the Hospice nurses and caregiver Shelly who took care of our dad.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM.  A viewing will be held at the funeral home form 10:00 AM until the time of the service.  Burial will follow in Laurel Hill memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, P.O.
