Robert R. Sheaffer, 77, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on September 23
rd
surrounded by his family. He was the beloved father of Michael Sheaffer and Matthew Sheaffer. Bob served in France with the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War. He returned from the service and worked first as a diesel mechanic and then later back in the Lancaster area as a manager for Robert Hall and various other companies. He was a loving companion, father, and grandfather who loved fishing for stripers, watching football, and family gatherings.
Besides his sons Michael and Matthew, he is survived by his long-time companion Carol LeCato, his daughter-in-law Tari Sheaffer, and grandchildren Chelsea Sheaffer, Samantha Sheaffer, Robert Sheaffer, Zachary Sheaffer, and Trent Sheaffer. He is also survived by 3 great granddaughters.
We would like to give thanks to the staff of the Neuro Trauma unit of the Lancaster General Hospital for their care.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St. Lancaster, PA 17602 on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 2:00 PM. A viewing will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Burial will follow at the Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to The American Diabetes Association, 2040 Linglestown Rd., Suite # 106, Harrisburg, PA 17110-9568.
