Robert H. Ranck, 89, died Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Landis Homes, 1001 East Oregon Rd., Lititz, PA.
Born July 22, 1920 in Rohrerstown, he was the son of the late David H. and Susan (Hostetter) Ranck. He was a lifelong member of the Rohrerstown Mennonite Church.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Alta (Hoover) Ranck and six children, John, married to Barbara (Herr), Oxford, FL, James, married to Judy (Shank), John’s Island, SC, Janet, married to Wilmer Martin, Waterloo, ON, Jean, married to Howard Cann, Westover, MD, Joe, married to Ann (Lapp), Lancaster and Joanne, married to Douglas Dirks, Lancaster, twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and his brother Melvin H. Ranck, Lancaster. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mildred (Denlinger) Ranck and his second wife, Pauline (Peifer) Ranck, sister, Mae Ranck and a great-granddaughter.
Robert was a 1938 graduate of East Hempfield High School. In 1953, he founded Robert H. Ranck Plumbing and Heating, now Robert H. Ranck, Inc. In his retirement he volunteered with Landis Homes, Ten Thousand Villages, Mennonite Disaster Service, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels and the Gideons International.
His strong faith was evidenced in his support of his local congregation, Mennonite schools and mission organizations.
Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Rohrerstown Mennonite Church, 601 Rohrerstown Road, Lancaster, PA. Friends may greet the family on Sunday, June 20, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the EAST BETHANY Chapel at Landis Homes, 1001 E. Oregon Road, Lititz, PA, and on Monday at the church following the Memorial Service. Private interment in the (old) Rohrerstown Mennonite Cemetery.
