Robert W. Michael
Robert William Michael, 67, of Columbia, passed away on February 8, 2015, at his home. He was the loving husband of Barbara J. (Herr) Michael, to whom he was married 45 years.
Born in Lancaster, PA in 1947, he was the son of the late Gertrude M. (Newlin) Michael and Donald Lester Michael, Sr.
After graduating from J.P. McCaskey High School, Bob went on to work for Alcoa where he worked for 37 years. After leaving Alcoa, he worked for the Penn Manor School District, where he was employed until his retirement.
Earlier in life, Bob was an avid hunter, and since his retirement, he and Barb enjoyed visiting different casinos, where he especially enjoyed watching horse races.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barb; a son, Robert W. Michael, Jr., husband of Pauline; three daughters, Barbara C. Kennedy, Melissa Davis, wife of Dean, and Shelley Hammaker, wife of Christian; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and two sisters, Shirley Walton, wife of John Walton and Jane Breneman, wife of Henry Breneman.
Bob was preceded in death by a brother, Donald L. Michael Jr., and a grandson, Matthew M. Lugo.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service at the Richard A. Sheetz Funeral Home, 2024 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA, 17603 on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Edward A. Dickel officiating. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will immediately follow the service in the Rohrerstown Lutheran Reformed Cemetery, which is behind Salem United Church of Christ in Rohrerstown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his Bob’s memory may be made to Wolf Sanctuary of PA, 465 Speedwell Forge Road, Lititz, PA, 17543.
