Rosemary Loomis

Rosemary Loomis (Scholl) of Lancaster PA, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018.  She was 80 years young.

Rosemary was a devoted homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She dedicated her life to the health and happiness of her family; and she was happily married for over 50 years!  She made friends easily and genuinely cared for everyone she met.

Although she worked outside her home from time to time at several local companies, her proudest success came from raising her four children:  Peggy Loomis-Worden (Will), Jacqueline Myers (John), John Jr. (Kim), and Jennifer Loomis.

Throughout her life she enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, crocheting, and traveling.  She spoke fondly of her trips abroad with her family in Ireland.  But it was the children in her life that made her the happiest; the innocence of youth, the wide-eyed joy of learning, and the laughter of a child being silly brought her the greatest joy throughout her 80 years.

Rosemary loved spending time with her eight grandchildren:  Eric, Jordan, Hickory, Talia, Elizabeth, Kristi, John III, and Lucas; and two great-grandaughters, Addison and Dana. And Rosemary was very close to her sister, Donna Hampton. Rosemary also leaves many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews whom she cherished. The last two months as she struggled with her illness, she laughed everyday with her closest family, nurses, and aides that came to help her. She never complained, though they could see her struggle. She passed peacefully at home with loving family by her side.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, John F. Loomis Sr.; her parents, Thomas Donald Scholl and Anne Marie Courtney; and her sister, Dorothy Monroe.

In lieu of flowers, it was Mom’s wish that any donations be offered to Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN, 38105, to help with all the fine work that they do.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Anthony of Padua, 501 East Orange Street, Lancaster PA on Friday at 11:00 AM. Final Commendation and Fairwell in Conestoga Memorial Park, 95 Second Lock Road, Lancaster, PA. Family and friends may call on Friday at 10:00 AM in the vestibule of Saint Anthony of Padua Church.
