Ruby Madalyn Angel of Willow Street, Pennsylvania, died on October 31st at the age of 96. Madalyn, the daughter of Lottie and Alvin Blades, was born in Crisfield, Maryland. She attended Western Maryland College and majored in English and French, graduating cum laude in 1938. She joined the English faculty of Hyattsville High School in suburban Washington where she met Ralph Angel. They married in June 1941 and enjoyed 66 years together until his passing in 2007. They adapted a short story entitled Prelude into a three-act play that was awarded first prize by the Pittsburgh Drama League in 1945.
Madalyn taught English, journalism and drama for more than two decades at Hyattsville, Mt. Rainier and High Point High Schools. She also directed numerous plays at Mt.
