Ruth A. Held
Ruth A. Held, 78, of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at the Lancaster Regional Medical Center. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Clair F. and Luella McLaughlin Fitz.
Ruth received her Bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and her Master’s Degree from Millersville University. She was a teacher for the School District of Lancaster, retiring in 1994. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, the PSAR and participated in a variety of school retirement groups. She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Lancaster and the Kappa Delta Sorority.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim wife of Bill Wagner of Marietta, GA and 2 granddaughters, Erin and Leah Wagner of Marietta, GA. She was preceded in death by a brother, Clair Fitz, Jr.
Funeral Services will be held from the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home 141 E. Orange St. Lancaster, PA on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 3 PM. The family will visit with friends from 2 to 3 PM at the funeral home on Saturday. Private interment in Mount Rose Cemetery, York, will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Water Street Rescue Mission 210 S. Prince St. Lancaster, PA 17603 or to the American Heart Association 610 Community Way Lancaster, PA 17603.
