Ruth A. Marsh, 97, of Lancaster, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Hospice of Lancaster County. Ruth was a resident of Woodcrest Villa and the Mennonite Home for the past four years.
Born in South Wilmerding, PA, she was the daughter of the late William D. and Gertrude McKelvey Marsh. She was a 1931 graduate of McKeesport High School.
Ruth retired from Armstrong World Industries where she had been employed as an accountant for 40 years retiring in 1976. She was a volunteer for the United Way, the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra, the Income Tax Association, Retired Seniors Volunteer Program and the Literacy Council of Lancaster Lebanon. In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed golf and bowling. Up until two weeks before her death, Ruth enjoyed playing Wii, shuffleboard, pinochle and hand and foot.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Mildred Groomes, Edna Stone, Lola Pflumm and Laura Marsh and by a brother, Daniel Marsh. She is survived by nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Jack Hilton officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, July 14, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in the Union Cemetery, Irwin, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Miss Marsh’s memory may be made to the Literacy Council of Lancaster Lebanon, 38 West King St., Lancaster, PA 17603
