Ruth E. Baker

Ruth E. Baker, 91, of Lancaster, PA died September 9, 2011 at Hospice of Lancaster County. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Effie Conrad Pennell. Ruth was employed by Anderson Pretzels for 22 years as a “dog picker.” In her earlier years she enjoyed bowling, roller skating, and playing bingo and cards. Spending time with her family, (specifically the children) was the highlight of her life.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandra, wife of Frank Fox of Lancaster; a sister, Verna Kohler of Rialto, CA; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two daughters, Darlene Hoeltzel Rohrer and Christine Hoeltzel Rankin Henry.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral at Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA on Thursday, September 15th at 11:00 A.M. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment will be in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be sent to American Cancer Society, 314 Good Dr., Lancaster, PA 17603.
