Seth H. Ebersole

Seth H. Ebersole, 84, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at ­Landis Homes following an extended illness.

Born April 19, 1926 in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Laura Hertzler Ebersole. He was the husband of Virginia Metzler Ebersole, sharing 62 years of marriage.

Seth was an active member of the Akron Mennonite Church and the Men’s Chorus for many years. He was an accomplished woodworker employed by the J.W. Nauman Company in Manheim and retiring in 1988 from Nauman Construction in Lancaster.  Following retirement, Seth volunteered at several church related organizations using his many carpenter skills.

Seth was a volunteer fire fighter for the Landisville/ Hempfield Fire Co. for 45 years. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also had a deep appreciation of books and loved to read.

Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Jane Ebersole of Hummelstown and Kathy wife of Jeff Kauffman of Lancaster; a son, Charles husband of Linda Ebersole of Mohnton; six grandchildren, one great grandchild; a brother, Andrew husband of Irene Ebersole of Lancaster; and a brother-in-law, Paul White of Lititz. He was preceded in death by sisters, Ruth White and Edith Ebersole.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Landis Homes, especially the staff of Ephrata House, for the wonderful care given to Seth over the last few years.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the Akron Mennonite Church, 1311 Diamond Street, Akron, PA with Pastor Jim Amstutz and Pastor Michelle Dula officiating.  Visitation with the family will be held at East Bethany Chapel at Landis Homes, 1001 E. Oregon Road, Lititz, on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and at the church on Friday following the memorial service. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in the Akron Mennonite Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Caring Fund at Landis Homes, 1001 E.
