Shirley E. Abell Truby Repp, 91, of Lancaster died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Lancaster General Hospital.

She was the wife of the late Howard P. Repp who died in 1996 and the late Francis R. Truby who died in 1954. Born in Springfield, MA she was the daughter of the late Harry and Florence Dumas Abell.

Shirley received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Tampa and her Master’s Degree from the Westfield State College. She had been employed the by the Springfield Republican Newspaper, The Baltimore Evening Sun, United Press and Time Magazine. She finished her working career by teaching at Wheatland Junior High School.

Shirley was a member of the Hamilton Park United Church of Christ. Her other memberships included the Order of the Eastern Star James Buchanan Chapter #315, the Cedarettes, AARP- National and Local 530, the American Legion Post 34 Auxiliary and the Guys and Dolls of St. Phillips.

Surviving is a daughter, Marguerite wife of Robert Shugda of Dillon, CO; a step daughter Gail Repp of Lancaster; and a nephew Arthur Abell. She was preceded in death by sons, Thomas and William Truby, by a step-daughter Linda Hanson and by a brother Harry Abell, Jr.

A Service Celebrating Shirley’s life will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at the Hamilton Park United Church of Christ, 1210 Maple Avenue, Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Catherine M. Shiley officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. Interment in the Hamilton Park UCC Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Hamilton Park United Church of Christ, 1210 Maple Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603.
