Shirley Y. (Glass) Geadrities, 74, of Lancaster, passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 at her home. Born in Deodate, PA, she was the daughter of Alice (Treist) Heisey of Hummelstown and the late Ferdinand M. Glass. She was the wife of the late Donald J. Berrier and the late George Geadrities.
Shirley retired from the PA State Senate where she was an executive secretary for several senators. For 10 years, she has worked for Lancaster Newspapers, where she was the top salesperson for several years and won numerous awards.
She enjoyed flower gardening, exercising and collecting birdhouses and was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. Always positive and upbeat, she enjoyed life and loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by: a son, Jeffrey Berrier of Huntingdon; 3 grandchildren, Zachary S. Berrier of Kansas, Joshua J. Berrier of Los Angeles, CA, Laura Lenhart of Camp Hill; 5 sisters, Sandra Y. Glass of Elizabethtown, Fernanda Snader of Lancaster, Mary E. Cain of Hummelstown, Angie Banzhof of Hershey, Jill Nye of Hummelstown; 2 brothers, Andre’ Glass of Jonestown, Jon Glass of Morgantown.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela K. Berrier, and 2 brothers, Fred Glass, Jr. and Michael Glass.
Per her request, Shirley’s remains were donated to the Humanity Gifts Registry. If desired, contributions may be sent in honor of her daughter, Pamela, to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Dr., Lancaster, PA 17603.
