Shirley K. Kraft, 75, of Lancaster, PA, found eternal peace on Thursday, January 23, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Willis, Jr. and Sarah Petticoffer Mayer. She was married for 50 years to the late Lt. Col. Edward C. Kraft, Jr. Shirley was a Lancaster native who spent 25 years traveling around the world as an Air Force wife.
After her husband retired from the military, they settled in Lancaster and both worked at the Lancaster County Prison, retiring after 20 years of service. She was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ in Lancaster. She loved to take trips with her sisters and met regularly with her cousins at their “Cousin’s Lunch.” She greatly loved the visits from her children and grandchildren. Christmas was her favorite holiday.
She is survived by two daughters, Jill Kraft Peterson, wife of Alan of Miami, FL and Jean Kraft of Lancaster, and one son, Edward C. Kraft, III, husband of Cristina of Smithfield, VA. She has six grandchildren, Jessica Davis Sweeney, Danielle Davis Lambert, Charles Davis, and Zackary Davis all of Brockton, MA, and Mitchell Kraft and David Kraft both of Smithfield, VA, and four great grandchildren, Cheyenne Davis, Grace Sweeney, Christopher Sweeney and Lilly Davis of Brockton, MA.
She is also survived by two sisters Audrey Faye Morrison of Bel Air, MD and Donna Lee Tallarico of Lancaster.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service in First Reformed United Church of Christ, 40 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. William P. Worley officiating. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Conestoga Memorial Park.
