Stanley B. Williams
Stanley B. Williams, 74, of Lancaster, PA passed away August 4, 2014 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in San Angelo, TX, he was the son of Grace Butler Williams and the late Ben H. Williams. He was the loving husband of Judith Lepley Williams to who he had been married 30 years.
Stan was a 1962 graduate of Baylor University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree, a 1965 graduate of the University of Texas where he received his Master of Arts degree, and a 1983 graduate of Dickinson School of Law receiving his Juris Doctor degree.
He was an assistant professor of Economics at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove from 1971-1979. He served 2 terms as County Commissioner in Snyder County from 1976-1984, President of the Pennsylvania State Association of County Commissioners from 1983-1984, and became a Senior Trust Officer at Snyder County Trust Company in Selinsgrove, PA, also in 1983.
In 1984, he was employed at CSM Municipal Securities Corp, in Pittsburgh through 1989 when he became an investment banker at Hopper Soliday and successor firms Tucker Anthony and RBC Dain Rauscher, in Lancaster, PA through his retirement in 2002.
He continued part-time employment at RBC Dain Rauscher as an underwriting specialist for several years and most recently at Clark Associates, Inc. as Executive Director of its charitable foundation.
An active member of First United Methodist Church, Lancaster, he served on the Endowment Fund Committee from 1993-1998, serving as Chair in 1997. He co-chaired the Capital Campaign in 2003 and from 2005-2011 he served as President of the Board of Trustees. He also recently served on the Church Council and the Pastor Parish Relations committee. Stan’s love for his church was evident in many ways, but mostly in his constant search for ideas to manage the church’s debt. He was a quiet pillar of the church whose positive attitude encouraged people to strive for their absolute best.
In addition to his wife, Judy, and his mother Grace Williams from Ozona, TX and currently in Uvalde, TX, he is survived by his children, Benjamin R. and Claire R. Williams, and his brother, Jim Williams of Uvalde, TX.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service at First United Methodist Church, 29 E. Walnut Street, Lancaster, PA 17602 on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. J. William Lentz and the Rev. William T. Cherry officiating. The family will greet friends at the church from 9:00 A.M until the service and immediately following the memorial service.
