Stanley Strickler Haverstick

Stanley S. Haverstick, 82, of Willow Street, died unexpectedly at home on Saturday, January 19, 2013.

He was married 58 years to Gladys E. Humbert Haverstick. Born in New Providence, he was the son of the late S. Mylin and Mabel Strickler Haverstick.

Stanley retired in 1995 from PPL where he had been employed as an equipment operator for 41 years. Following his retirement he enjoyed working part-time at the Willow Street Car Wash.

Mr. Haverstick served in the U. S. Army as a sergeant during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the West Willow United Methodist Church. A life member of the Willow Street Fire Co., he was a past president of the Lancaster County Fireman’s Association and served as Treasurer of the Lancaster County Fire Expo. He was also a member of the Charles M. Howell Lodge # 496 F.&A.M. in Millersville. As an avid hunter and fisherman he enjoyed spending time outdoors.

Stanley loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Surviving besides his wife is a son, Ricky husband of Susan Haverstick of Ephrata; a daughter, Sandra wife of Steven Keller of Lebanon; four grandchildren, Abby, Becky, and Crystal Haverstick and Adam Keller; two brothers, James Haverstick of Millersville, and Jay husband of Betty Ann Haverstick of Willow Street; four sisters, Anna wife of Eugene Kreider of Landisville, Joanne Harnish of Quarryville, Vivian wife of Paul Hunt of Lancaster, and Glenda Hoffer of Akron.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the West Willow United Methodist Church, 118 W. Willow Road, Willow Street, PA with the Rev. John T. Pfeil and the Rev. C. Michael Roney officiating. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment with military honors in Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Haverstick’s memory to the West Willow United Methodist Church, 118 W. Willow Road, Willow Street, PA 17584 or to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
