Sylvia S. Weinberg, formerly of NJ, FLA and Lancaster, PA, passed away in Brethren Village, Lititz, on Dec 31. She was 101 years old. Born in Newark, NJ, to Herman and Frances Saslow, she is predeceased by her siblings, Herbert and Juanita. Sylvia enjoyed 45 years of marriage to the late Dr. Isadore Weinberg.
Sylvia attended Essex County Jr. College, with a WPA scholarship, and studied arts and literature. She served on numerous arts councils in NJ and FLA, and became a docent for Ft. Lauderdale Museum of Fine Arts. Her major achievement was co-founding Palm Aire Friends of the Arts, a philanthropic organization for the fine and performing arts, where she acted as President for many years. Her interests included singing, flower arranging, painting, decorating, world travel, theater, opera, ballet, duplicate bridge, poetry, crosswords and sports. She was a marathon runner and played golf and tennis well into her 70’s.
Sylvia leaves her daughters, Phyllis and Wendy. A private service will be held for the immediate family.
