Terry L. Miller, 73, of Lancaster, passed away on March 14, 2025 at Lancaster Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of the late Deborah Jeanne (Bryson) Miller who passed away in May 2016.
Born in Lancaster, PA on January 11th, 1952 he was the son of the late Alvin and Gladys (Barrow) Miller. After graduating from J.P. McCaskey High School in 1970, Terry had an apprenticeship to learn how to be a machinist and tool and die maker from a family member. He worked at various machine shops in the county, and while he was employed at Vallorbs Jewelry Company, he would meet his future wife, Deb. Around this time, Terry was drafted into the Army for the Vietnam War. He and Deb were married on October 28th, 1972 after he completed basic training. He was learning to be a medic when the war ended in 1975. Terry returned to Lancaster continuing his service in the National Guard. He was hired by National Bearings, Inc where he was employed until his retirement in 2014.
In his free time after returning to Lancaster from the Army, Terry became interested in ham radios, and was a member of the Red Rose Repeater Association through the 1990s. He was extremely proud when he attained the FCC Extra licensure status, with his call sign becoming KC3IM, which he would maintain until just before his passing. In the mid 1990’s, Terry took up fishing as a serious hobby. He particularly enjoyed fishing in the Delaware Bay out of Lewes, Delaware, and taught his daughter, Laura, how to fish in those waters when she was young. He was a member of the Ryder Avenue Fishing Club from the mid to late 1990’s until the mid 2000’s. After leaving the fishing club, Terry enjoyed spending time with his wife and taking trips to the beach. After they both retired, Terry purchased a boat in hopes of getting back into fishing on a more regular basis, and for he and Deb to get away from Lancaster for some relaxation and peace. Unfortunately, this time would be cut short with her untimely passing. They were married for 43 years. After her passing, Terry still enjoyed the boat, and would share his passion with his son, Michael, teaching him how to sail and maintain it. He also enjoyed watching various sports including baseball, football, hockey, rooting for all our local teams (Phillies, Orioles, and the Barnstomers, Penn State, Steelers and Eagles, the Flyers and the Hershey Bears), and NASCAR. Terry also enjoyed doing Sudoku puzzles and spending time with various pet cats throughout the years.
Terry is survived by his daughter, Laura S. Miller of Canton, MI, and son, Michael J. Miller of Lancaster; by a brother, Dennis G. Miller (Robbie) of Rising Sun, MD.; and an uncle Harold E. Miller of Lancaster. In addition to his late wife, and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce L. Holmes (Kenneth) of Plymouth, MI, and numerous aunts and uncles.
