Thelma E. Gibson, 87, a resident of Hamilton Arms, died Tuesday, March 6, 2013 at Lancaster General Hospital. Prior to moving to Hamilton Arms she had resided at Brereton Manor for many years.
She was the wife of the late Elwood W. Gibson who died in 1985. Born in Pequea, she was the daughter of the late Ira H. and Anna W. Erb Campbell.
Thelma retired from Smithgall’s Pharmacy. Prior to that she had worked at RCA and Hamilton Watch. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Millersville, and enjoyed traveling, doing jig saw puzzles and collecting owls.
Surviving is a daughter, Trudy A. wife of Ronnie L. Booth, Sr. of Lancaster; two sons, Jere J. husband of Sandra Lea Gibson of Lancaster, and Dale Robert husband of Maryanne Gibson of Jamaica, VA. Also surviving are five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; a brother, Guy Campbell of Pequea; and a sister Susan Gingrich of Baden, Ontario, Canada. She was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 11, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA with the Rev. John Laughlin officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in the Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Gibson’s memory may be made to Brereton Manor Personal Care Home, 3028 Anchor Road, Washington Boro, PA 17582.
