Thelma G. Weaver, 96, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016, at Lakeside at Willow Valley Retirement Community. Thelma was the loving wife of Dr. E. Mark Weaver. They formally resided in Strasburg, PA, where Mark practiced dentistry for 50 years. Thelma and Mark celebrated a remarkable 76 years of marriage on July 11.
Thelma was born in Quarryville, PA, the daughter of the late Harry and Irene Shank. Thelma was a wonderful mother and talented in many fields. She was an artist, expert quilter and seamstress, gardener, and cook. She was a member of The Lancaster Church of the Brethren and a former member of Strasburg Heritage Society, Lancaster County Dental Society Auxiliary, Hamilton Club, and Media Heights Golf Club.
Thelma was preceded in death by her 4 siblings: Dr. James F Shank, Marian I. Shank, Eugene D. Shank, and Ralph E. Shank. In addition to her husband, she is survived by their 4 children: Kathleen J., wife of Robert Bucher of Willow Street; Philip M. Weaver of New Holland; David A. Weaver and his wife, Alice, of Quarryville; Linda J., wife of Robert Simpson of Lancaster; and by 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Thelma’s memorial service at The Lancaster Church of the Brethren, 1601 Sunset Ave., Lancaster, PA, on September 11, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
