Thomas R. Kolarich

Thomas R. Kolarich, 90, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Willow Valley Retirement Community.    He was the loving husband of Cornelia “June” (Ulmer) Kolarich to whom he celebrated 66 years of marriage this year.   Born in Colon, Panama in 1923, he was the son of the late Rudd and Doris (Polk) Kolarich.

He grew up in Brookline, MA and graduated from Brookline High School.  He went to Wagner College in Staten Island and while there joined the Navy V-12 unit.  He proudly served as a skipper of an LCT during WWII.

After the war he went to Hobart College in Geneva, NY.  After graduating college, Tom spent 50 years of his professional career in the insurance business.   After retirement he and June moved to Osterville, Cape Cod where they spent 10 happy years.  In 2000, they moved to the Gables in Willow Valley Retirement Community in Lancaster, PA and in 2011 moved to the Lakes Manor also at Willow Valley.

In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by his two children; a son Thomas S. Kolarich (married to Deborah) of Mechanicsburg, PA, a daughter Anne Kolarich of Santa Rosa, CA; and two grand-daughters, Emily and Hayley.   Tom loved helping people in a variety of ways. During his retirement years, he drove a shuttle bus from Cape Cod to Boston hospitals, for outpatients who had no other means of transportation. He had a passion for golf throughout his life.  He was a wonderful, caring husband and father and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, in the Thomas Auditorium at Willow Valley Lakes Manor, 300 Willow Valley Lakes Drive, Willow Street, PA 17584 at 11:00 A.M. The family will greet attendees immediately following the service.
