V. June Warfel Barto, 82, formerly of Landisville, died Friday, April 10, 2009 at the Mennonite Home.

She was the wife of the late W. Barry Barto who died in 1997. Born June 25, 1926 in Rohrerstown, she was the daughter of the late J. Howard and Bertha C. Campbell Warfel.

Mrs. Barto retired from the former Commonwealth National Bank in 1985 after 24 years of employment as a customer service representative. She was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ in Rohrerstown, and had been active in the Altar Guild, the property committee, the decorating committee and as a Sunday School teacher.

She enjoyed spending time in the mountains and at the beach and was an avid Phillies fan. Everyone who had the opportunity to know her, knew she was an outstanding cook.

Surviving are two daughters, Judy A. wife of Paul A. Payne of Denver, and Kathy B. wife of Randall M. Johnston of Lancaster; five granddaughters, six great grandchildren, and a sister Grace M. wife of Ben L. Lefever of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Salem United Church of Christ Rohrerstown, 2312 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Charlotte Whiting officiating. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment in the Green Hill United Methodist Cemetery, Conestoga, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Barto’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Association, 3544 N. Progress Avenue, Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110-9638. Arrangements by the Richard A. Sheetz Funeral Home, 397-6329.
