Vera M Johnson

Vera M. Johnson, 97, passed away on August 5, 2024 at Brethren Village, Lititz, PA. Born on July 17, 1927 in East Petersburg, East Hempfield Township, Lancaster County, PA, she was the daughter of Walter N. Zuck and Mary M. (Miller) Zuck.

Vera was a 1945 graduate of Hempfield High School and worked in the Accounts Payable department at Armstrong Cork Company. Following a hiatus to raise a family, she returned to the Financial Administrative Services division of Armstrong World Industries, retiring in 1990. 

Her main focus in life and the object of much of her energies was family, across many generations; parents, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, puzzles, traveling with her husband, and an occasional bridge game with friends. 

Predeceased by her husband, Stephen R. Johnson, and one son, David R. Johnson, as well as her parents, a sister, Erla (Zuck) Resnick, and a brother, Ray Zuck; Vera is survived by a brother, Alfred Zuck (wife Geraldine), two sons, Dr. William T. Johnson (wife, Sara) of Reinholds, PA, and Dr. Frederick S. Johnson (wife, Dr. Jennifer S. Davis) of Annville, PA, six grandchildren, and fifteen greatgrandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life service on Friday August 16, 2024 at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA, 17602 at 1100AM. Visitation will occur from 1000 AM until the time of the service. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park will immediately follow the service.
