Victorina Esperanza Greiner, 73, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on the 19th of July, 2015 at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy, PA. “Vickie” was the loving wife of Navy veteran Elmer A. Greiner, Jr.
She was born in the Mindanao region of the Philippines to Eleutaria Tutor and Diosdado Esperanza.
Vickie was an avid gardener, an animal lover, baker, and enjoyed watching the Filipino channel from her native country. She also enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing bingo, and was an occasional casino quarter slot machine aficionado. She loved cooking and had served 35 years as a cook at Meals on Wheels in Lancaster.
Vickie comes from a large family where she was the youngest of 9 children.
She is survived by her niece Lucy, her grandnieces Lorraine, Leslie, Lou, her beloved canine “kids” Steve and Buddy and an older sister that she sends aid to in the Philippines; as well as the children and relatives of her deceased siblings.
She is known for her big heart, kind and generous spirit. Vickie was well loved and will be greatly missed by her family, her dogs, her extended family at MOW and her neighbors. We know that she is at peace and happily reunited with her true love, Elmer.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service at the DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602, on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 with Father Daniel O’Brien officiating. Friends may greet the family from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will immediately follow the service in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly send all contributions to Lorraine Tanyu at 316 E. Clay Street, Lancaster, PA 17602. An educational fund will be set up under Victorina Esperanza Greiner’s name, and this fund will be distributed to organizations or her relatives that are in need of financial assistance to complete their education. Vickie’s highest education was some high school and one of her regrets in life was that her family was unable to financially support her to finish her education, due to poverty. This fund will be distributed appropriately for that cause which we know Vickie would be extremely happy about.
