Virginia B. Rainey, of Lancaster, passed away on February 20, 2017 at Masonic Villages. Born August 22, 1918, in Chillicothe, Ohio, the daughter of Marvin and Petrea Barley. Graduated from Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, PA. Married H. L. Wyatt Rainey in Bala Cynwyd, PA, on September 5, 1936. Mr. Rainey died in 2002. They were married 66 years.
Mrs. Rainey was a member of St. John´s Episcopal Church, Lancaster, PA. She served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross and received the Clara Barton award for 55 years of service to her community.
Mrs. Rainey was a colorist and photographer´s assistant for Long and York photographic studio for ten years. In 1957, she won the Pennsylvania Professional Photographers Association award for the best in show hand colored portrait. She was a former member of Town and Country Garden Club.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth D. Rainey, husband of Elizabeth Plume, of Bryn Mawr, PA; and a daughter, Judith W. Rainey Barone, wife of Ronald J. Barone, of Whiting, NJ. Survivors also include five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at St. John´s Episcopal Church, Lancaster, PA, at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 27, 2017. The family will receive friends starting at 10:30. Interment will be private, at the convenience of the family.
