Walter E. Vreeland
Walter E. Vreeland, 92, of Willow Street, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Lakeside in Willow Valley Communities.
Born in Orange, NJ, he was the son of the late John and Edith Everett Vreeland. He grew up in Millburn, NJ and was a 1944 graduate of Millburn High School. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army, and served in WWII. When he returned home, he attended Stevens Institute of Technology and became a mechanical engineer, working for Bell Telephone and AT&T.
Prior to moving to Willow Valley Communities and attending Grace Church, Walter was a long-time member of Hydewood Park Baptist Church in North Plainfield, NJ. He was also a skilled artist and woodworker.
Walter is survived by three sons; Daniel A., husband of Kathy Vreeland of Redondo Beach, CA, David M. Vreeland of San Diego, CA, and Donald S., husband of Wanda Vreeland of Millburn, NJ, and five grandchildren; Alina, Heather, Nick, Jenna, and Drew Vreeland. He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Janice E. Vreeland, who passed away in 2015.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
