Wanda F. Chudzik

Wanda Chudzik passed away peacefully in her sleep at Hospice of Lancaster County on Saturday night, November 5, 2011 with her daughter Pamela by her side. The rest of her family was at her bedside on Saturday as well.   On October 30th, her entire family was able to come together to celebrate her 89th birthday.

Born in Passaic, NJ, Wanda spent her last 7 years in Lancaster. Prior to that, she resided in Wilmington, DE for 27 years.

She attended Douglas College in NJ and graduated as a Math Major in 1944. Her first job was with AT&T on Wall Street and then she became a physicist with DuPont.

Wanda married Bruno Chudzik on May 11, 1952 and stopped working to become a mother of 4.   While caring for her young children in Wenonah, NJ, she was the chairman of the Gloucester County Heart Association as well as a Girl Scout Leader. Wanda and Bruno were heavily involved with volunteering at hospitals and nursing homes throughout their life.   During their life, Wanda and Bruno were able to travel to all 50 states as well as abroad from Europe to Australia and their parent’s homeland Poland.   One of the highlights of their trips was meeting Pope John Paul II during a visit to the Vatican.   She enjoyed cards, swimming and socializing at various senior centers in both Wilmington and Lancaster.   Her son Brian Chudzik and his wife Kris cared for Wanda for the past 7 years while in Lancaster. Additionally, Wanda was supported by wonderful caregivers Sue, Mary and Evelyn.

She is survived by her 4 devoted children, Donald Chudzik, Candace Chudzik, Pamela Chudzik and Brian Chudzik; 3 adoring grandchildren, Michael Washburn, Kate and Justin Chudzik.

A mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, November, 10, at Saint Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Ave, Lancaster, PA 17601 at 11:30 AM.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation at the Richard A. Sheetz Funeral Home, 2024 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster PA from 10:00 to 11:00am.
