William Brinton Weaver
William Brinton Weaver, formerly of Lancaster, died Friday, August 8, in Longboat Key, Florida at age 84.
Born in Lancaster, Bill was a resident of Lancaster for 55 years and had lived in Florida for the past 29 years.
He was the son of the late Edward Benjamin Weaver and Catherine McGovern Brinton Weaver. Bill was predeceased by a sister, Catherine Weaver Miller of Tennessee.
Bill attended public schools in Lancaster before graduating from the St. James School in Hagerstown, MD. He graduated from a four year college program at the General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan.
Bill served in the Korean conflict as a sergeant in the Army from 1952 to 1954.
During his business career in Lancaster, he was the owner and operator of Weaver’s Auto Mart on the Manheim Pike from 1960 to 1988. Prior to that, he was the manager of Hartman Pontiac from 1958 to 1960.
Weaver also served as a director of the Lancaster County Auto Dealers Association from 1955 to 1959.
He was a member of the Board of Directors of the School Lane Hills Corporation, a private real estate development company.
For several years, Weaver owned the Dutch Dell, a restaurant on Route 272 south of Lancaster.
He was a past member of the Lancaster Country Club.
Surviving Weaver are a nephew, James B. Miller Jr. of Oregon; Mary Ann Miller Fuhrman, Michael E. Miller and three great nieces, all of Tennessee.
Additional survivors include the following first cousins: Isaac H. Weaver, S. R. Zimmerman III; Edith Z. May, and Ellen Brinton all of Lancaster; Herbert W. Zimmerman of Bluffton, SC and Edward W. Zimmerman of New York City.
For many years in Florida, Bill enjoyed the company of Janette Nicholson, a close friend and companion.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 301 St. Thomas Rd., Lancaster, PA, on Saturday, August 23

at 1:00 P.M. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
