William E Walsh

William E. Walsh, 77, of Lancaster died peacefully on March 24, 2024 at the Glen at Willow Valley Retirement Community. Born in New Providence to William and Kathryn Walsh, Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara C. Walsh of 53 years.

After graduating from Catawba College, Bill attended Southern Methodist University studying theater management. He joined the U.S. Army in 1970, where Bill was stationed at Valley Forge Military Hospital, Phoenixville, PA. Honorably discharged from active duty, he worked for Zimmerman and Walsh Electrical Contracting. Also, a licensed nursing home administrator, Bill worked at Maple Farm Nursing Center in Akron. Bill was active in Pennsylvania National Guard and served until 1994 as Executive Officer in downtown Lancaster.

Bill was an avid photographer. He always had a camera in hand, taking photos of friends, family, and scenery at every event and vacation. He was proud to have won a prize for one of his early photographs.

Bill enjoyed traveling, whether cruising, camping, hiking, or driving to places of history and interest, going all over the US and Europe. He volunteered for the Boy Scouts of America working for the Lancaster-Lebanon Council.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his son, Timothy Walsh, married to Amy of Ephrata, his brother, James E. Walsh, married to Patricia of Lancaster, and seven nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the staff at Willow Valley Communities, and Hospice and Community Care for their efforts and support during Bill’s heath challenges.

A memorial service will be held later this spring. Private interment to be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 322 8th Avenue, New York, NY 10001.
