In the comfort of his home, Wilson J. Rowe, Jr., age 75, passed away May 13, 2013 following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Wilmington, he graduated from Conrad High School, served in the U.S. Navy and worked for Hercules as a computer programmer. He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Patsy Worthington Rowe who passed away December 31, 2012.
After retiring, they moved from Newark to Bethany Beach and enjoyed going to the bandstand, local parades and watching the Delmarva Shorebirds baseball team with their friends. Their favorite vacations were traveling to Atlantic City and taking cruises. The past two years they have lived within the Willow Valley Retirement Community in Lancaster, PA. There they thoroughly enjoyed making friends, traveling and attending many cultural events on the campus.
Pat and Bill are survived by their son Scott Rowe and wife Cathy of Wilmington; daughter-in-law Karla E. Denison and grandchildren Kyle and Mason Rowe of Wilmington; grandchildren Phoebe and Brian Rowe of Wilmington; his brother Stephen Rowe and wife Candace of Newark; nephews Matthew and Adam Rowe of Newark. They are preceded in death by parents Carrie K. and Wilson J. Rowe, Sr., Pauline D. and Clifford M. Worthington, and son Paul A. Rowe.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses as well as the wonderful staff of Willow Valley for their patience and kindness during both of their illnesses; also the nurses from Hospice & Community Care of Lancaster County for their support to both Pat and Bill, and our family. A sincere thank you also to the many Bethany Beach and Willow Valley friends for their continuous prayers, frequent visits, assistance and love through this long difficult time.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service, at the Orr Auditorium of Willow Valley Manor, 211 Willow Valley Square, Lancaster, PA, 17602 on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. The family will greet friends on Friday from Noon until the time of service.
